ANOTHER DAY MAKING AND EATING AND MOANING!

Weather here in Cornwall one minute Rain and then 5 mins of sun. I wish it would make it's mind up.
Do you wear shorts and look stupid in the rain or wear jeans and feel like your passing out in the heat...
Garden never stops growing, constant work. Washing one minute out and the next hanging over the Aga....

Being the Summer hols not finding much time for any  projects at the moment. Its a constant battle to keep everyone fed and watered ( animals and children ).  Small cottage which was sold got to exchange then first time buyers got cold feet and pulled out ! I hate this process we have in the u.k. for selling houses. So back to square one.     Now busy doing more viewings, fingers crossed get a sale soon. , hopefully no more time wasters this time.

Any way to cheer myself up I decided to make home made fudge. I have always wanted to make this but never tried.

Here is my result.-

Be warned it did not look like this first time. I followed the recipe  put into fridge overnight and it did not set.
Then I went on line for any suggestions. That did not help much. So I put my thinking cap on. I make a lot of jam and sometimes I add more sugar if it does not set . So I thought why not try this. Nothing to loose.
So I did and it worked. It was so exciting to be able to cut into squares.

Here is the recipe I used if you would like to try-

Vanilla Fudge  with added Choc Chips.

450 g /  1 1b  granulated sugar (+  added an extra 8 oz's to make it set)
85 g  /  3 oz butter
150 ml/ 1/4 pt milk
175 g / 6  oz evaporated milk
few drops Vanilla extract
a little butter to grease tray.
Choc Chips

Put sugar, butter, milk, evaporated milk onto heat until sugar dissolved.
Bring to boil ( temperature 116 c / 240 f
Test by spooning small amount of syrup into iced water. Should form a soft ball.
Take off heat, add vanilla and beat with wooden spoon.
Pour into greased tin.
Add chop chips to decorate.
Leave a few minutes to cool and set.
Mark and cut squares.
Put into fridge to set.
Cut into squares and put into container of your choice.

Then enjoy.

Be warned this is really full of sugar. But very easy to keep eating. I made two jars full and gave some away.

BOTH JARS ARE NOW EMPTY........ IT ONLY SAT THERE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS.........

I WILL ONLY MAKE THIS NOW FOR PRESENTS. IT IS TOO  YUMMY!

A Rainy Day.

August and rain! Just when the children are on their hols this always happens.

                                                The plants are happy now.

No more cooling off in the pool. This has now been emptied and put away.

                                             Dark skies.

                                                        Garden in full flower.

So there is nothing to do except bake cakes.

Do you love my icing? A bit thin I thinks.

Can't resist a few chocolate chips.

Only one thing to do now. Make a cuppa and eat.

                                                         And Enjoy!
